Many may have endured hardship and discomfort over the past two weeks, but our latest Oklahoma Poll shows we're happy with the way power companies and other agencies responded. Our survey with the Tulsa World asked 750 people for their reactions to the emergency response during the ice storm and power outages.
Over 80% rated the utility companies excellent or good on their efforts to restore power. Fourteen percent say the response was fair or poor. The responses were very similar when we asked the same question about charitable organizations, law enforcement, fire and medical response.
You were not quite as generous when we asked about your own readiness for the storm. While almost 70% say they were well-prepared for the storm, 30% rated their own readiness as only fair or poor.
When we asked the same question a year ago following the big ice storm, people gave themselves a better score by almost 20 points.
The Oklahoma Poll is a partnership between The News On 6 and the Tulsa World. You can find more details in Sunday's paper.
