Members of TU's football team took a day off from the field to help clean up the city. Coaches and players headed to city parks to pick up debris left behind by the storm. It's part of Team Relief with Guts Church. Despite their upcoming bowl game, team members say it's important to take a time out, to help out.
"We want the community to know that we appreciate them and this is just the least that we can do," said Senior Steve Craver.
Team Relief is currently partnering with the Tulsa Mayor's office to recruit volunteers for additional assistance. Local businesses, organizations, churches, and members of the community are encouraged to take part in this city-wide effort to clean up the Tulsa area and help families that are still without.
Volunteers can sign up at GUTS Church and will be sent out at 8:00am and 1:00pm daily. Individuals in need of debris removal should call the Team Relief hotline at 622-4422.
Bottled water and non-perishable food items are needed in addition for Team Relief Food Distribution and can be dropped off at GUTS Church located at 9120 E. Broken Arrow Expressway. Individuals in need of food distribution can pick up items at GUTS Church between the hours of 8:00am-6:00pm.
