Tree trimmers and utility line crews have been working tirelessly to help get power back on across the Tulsa metro area. Wednesday morning, Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor wanted to personally recognize their efforts. Mayor Taylor greeted and spoke to the workers during breakfast at the Tulsa County fairgrounds.

Many of the out of town crews have been in town for a week, some traveled hundreds of miles to help Tulsa utility crews. PSO says work is now shifting from reconstruction to connection and it hopes to release half of the 6,000 workers in the next couple of days. Some say they are on board until the job is complete.

"We feel tired, everybody, I think, but we still have more work to do out there and we have to continue until we finish," says tree trimmer Elio Rodriguez.

The utility workers say they hope to get home in time for Christmas.

Many of the workers have been staying at the Tulsa County fairgrounds while they worked in Tulsa helping PSO crews restore power.
