Tulsa Public Schools officials have announced that classes have been canceled for the remainder of the week. Officials say 66 of the school district’s 89 sites were without power on Wednesday. Tulsa Public School Chief General Operations Officer Jim Spear says while the number is down from 70 sites on Tuesday, there is no way to know for sure when enough schools in the district would be back online to resume classes.
Officials say preliminary assessments indicate no major damage at Tulsa Public school; however, TPS grounds crews are working hard to remove limbs from school sidewalks, driveways and parking lots.
Tulsa Public Schools is the largest school district in the state with more than 42,000 students.
