CAMP McGREGOR, N.M. (AP) -- Officials at Camp McGregor in New Mexico say the more than 2,600 members of the Oklahoma National Guard's 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team have completed at least 50 % of their training.
The brigade has 23 companies training for a nine-month tour of duty in Iraq and are training in areas including convoy operations, advance rifle marksmanship, close quarter combat, land navigation and language.
The soldiers will be deployed to various locations in Iraq for missions including administration and providing security.
They'll be given a chance to return home for the Christmas holiday before completing training in early January then leaving for Iraq.
