LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) _ A Greyhound bus spun out of control on snowy pavement on Interstate 65 Wednesday morning, injuring 17 passengers, police said.

None of the injuries appeared to be life-threatening, said State Police Sgt. Kim Riley. Eight people were taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital and nine people were taken to Home Hospital, both in Lafayette, he said.

There were 43 passengers on the bus when the driver lost control just south of Lafayette at about 3:15 a.m.

The driver was not injured, Riley said.

The uninjured passengers were taken to a nearby church.

The first significant snow of the season was falling across northern and central Indiana Wednesday morning.
