Two people died Thursday night in a mobile home fire in Creek County. Sapulpa firefighters responded to a mobile home at 14741 S. 106 West Place around 6:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the home engulfed in flames. Dusty Thomas with the Creek County Sheriff's Office told the News On 6 that firefighters found two bodies in the bedroom of the mobile home after firefighters extinguished the fire.
The identities of the victims have not been released but sheriff's deputies on the scene describe them as a 27-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman.
There is no word on the cause of the fire, but the state Fire Marshall and the state Medical Examiner are investigating. The home is located just outside of the Sapulpa city limits.
Fire officials say there were several factors working against them in tackling this fire.
"Mobile home fire often spreads very quickly. It was fairly early in the evening. We did find that the person that lived here worked the graveyard shift at night so he usually would be sleeping at this time of the evening," said Sapulpa Fire Captain Eddie Vandolah.
A next-door neighbor says the male victim was a great guy who was always helping him out with projects around the house.
