EASTON, Pa. (AP) - A man and two women were found shot to death in a city duplex when officers responded to a report of a disturbance early Thursday. Neighbors reported a burst of gunfire shortly before 1 a.m., about a half-block from a middle school.
Police interviewed a man who ran into a nearby bar asking for help, but they are not treating him as a suspect. Authorities also towed a dark vehicle with New Jersey plates from the scene.
Neighbors said they had complained to police that visitors were constantly going in and out of the duplex. Classes were held at the middle school with additional security Thursday, but all after-school activities were canceled, district officials said.
Northampton County District Attorney John Morganelli said he believed the triple murder was the first in the county in more than 20 years, since three employees were shot in a June 1986 robbery at the First National Bank of Bath in East Allen Township.
Easton is located about 80 miles north of Philadelphia.
