COMANCHE, Okla. (AP) -- A 21-year-old Comanche man was killed Sunday morning when he lost control of his pickup truck in Stephens County. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol identified the victim as Dereck C. Benson. Troopers say Benson was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
The one-vehicle crash occurred about 2 a.m. on U.S. 81 north of Comanche. the patrol says Benson's pickup was southbound on U.S. 81 and went out of control on a curve due to excessive speed.
Troopers say the vehicle then went left of center and into a broadslide, leaving the roadway and repeatedly overturning. The victim was ejected approximately 90 feet.
