OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Attorney General Drew Edmondson says a Republican state lawmaker was wrong when he accused the Democratic attorney general of giving money from his own campaign to others. On Monday, Rep. Mike Reynolds of Oklahoma City said he found several instances in which the attorney general violated state ethics rules by using his campaign funds to help other candidates.
Ethics rules bar a candidate from raising money from supporters and then transferring it to another candidate.
Edmondson called the allegations "reckless and irresponsible." He says his records show that he wrote personal checks and did not use campaign funds to give to the campaigns Reynolds cited.
Last spring, Edmondson reimbursed his campaign for $2,750 after Reynolds contended he was violating campaign rules by giving to other campaigns.
