They have pulled the "Sooner Schooner" across the University of Oklahoma’s Owen Field close to 500 times. Now Boomer and Sooner are preparing for retirement. The 19 and 18-year-old ponies live in Creek County. The pair has strutted their stuff for over a decade in 88 consecutive home games, but after this weekend, they return to their pasture outside of Sapulpa.
Boomer and Sooner will make their final road trip to Norman on Saturday for the Bedlam game.
The ponies are the fourth pair of Boomer and Sooner. The tradition started in 1965.
