Imagine picking up a cell phone to order dinner and not having to say one word. News On 6 anchor Omar Villafranca reports one company is taking orders from text messages and using technology to deliver dinner to your door.
Pizza has gone hi-tech. Hungry consumers can pick out a pizza online.
"Online orders, the percentage of it is about 20 to 25 percent of the total orders we have,†said Saleh Khattab, store general manager.
Last week, Papa John's Pizza started taking orders from text messages. All you do is fill-out some basic information online, like your cell phone number, pick out your favorite pizza and toppings.
With text messages, Khattab expects to make more pizzas for customers. No matter how fast orders come in, the time it takes to make a pizza hasn't sped up.
"The quality will never suffer. No matter what we do. There's no compromise there. The quality has to be the same," said Saleh Khattab.
Papa John’s says the system works with all major carriers. Several other businesses have also jumped on the bandwagon. One real estate company is sending text messages of properties to potential customers.
