Some Tulsa 3rd graders receive a special gift on Monday. Members of Tulsa's Midtown Rotary Club delivered dictionaries to students at Kendall-Whittier Elementary. The free gift is part of "The Dictionary Project" that works to fight illiteracy in Oklahoma.

The school's entire 3rd grade class received a dictionary. Rotarians even had each book personalized with inscriptions of the student's name. School administrators say the dictionaries will help broaden the kids’ vocabularies and imaginations.

“The kids are very excited and just to see them as they open up the books, and they view the words and peer through the books and it's just exciting to see the lights come on in their eyes,” said Kendall-Whittier Assistant Principal Tammy Britton.
