OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ For all the bragging rights that the Bedlam rivalry game always holds, this year it's also a springboard for Oklahoma State's hopes for a better bowl game.
Having secured their sixth win Saturday against Baylor, the Cowboys (6-5, 4-3 Big 12) are in position to reach a bowl game five times in a six-year span for the first time in school history. The destination is still up for grabs.
The Big 12 already has seven teams with the six wins necessary to qualify for a bowl game, and two more could qualify next week. That leaves a range of bowl possibilities from the Holiday to the Texas Bowl for Oklahoma State, which plays at Number 10 Oklahoma on Saturday.
Oklahoma State finished 7-6 last season after beating Alabama 34-31 in the Independence Bowl. It took the Cowboys three tries to reach bowl eligibility this season, losing to Texas and Kansas before routing Baylor 45-14.
