KETTLEMAN CITY, California (AP) -- A weekend tragedy in central California.
Seven people were killed when a sport utility vehicle ran off a road and landed upside down in a canal. The victims of the crash included four children and a baby.
Two people survived the Saturday night crash near Kettleman City, about 50 miles south of Fresno. The SUV ran up a dirt embankment, rolled and landed upside down in the canal, where the water was five feet deep.
The California Highway Patrol says there were no child seats inside the vehicle and there's no evidence anyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.
