OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- A state grand jury's attempt to question a Texas man in its investigation of former Oklahoma Commissioner of Insurance has been blocked.
Ron Akin was scheduled to testify before Oklahoma's multi-county grand jury Tuesday. But the Texas Second Court of Appeals in Fort Worth ruled Akin didn't have to appear.
The grand jury, which meets again in Oklahoma City Wednesday, has been focusing on Fisher's dealings with Dallas businessman Gene Phillips.
Shortly after his 1998 election, Fisher accepted a 25-thousand dollar check from Davister Corporation, a company linked to Phillips. Fisher deposited the check in his personal banking account. Fisher and Phillips have denied wrongdoing.
Akin has been listed as president of Dallas-based One Realco Corporation, which used to be Davister.
