WASHINGTON (AP) _ Delta Enterprise Corp., is recalling about 81,000 children's director chairs because they can be inadvertently misassembled so that the fabric seat can come off, leading to potential lacerations and posing a fall hazard, the Consumer Product Safety Commission said Thursday.

The fabric coming off can lead to exposure to the metal support rods.

There have been six reports of the fabric seat coming off, there have been two reports of lacerations from the exposure to the rods, one child needed stitches. Two instances of minor injuries were also reported.

The chairs, manufactured in China, are made of tubular metal with a canvas seat and back_ popular characters such as ``Spongebob Squarepants'' and ``Disney Princesses'' are featured on the chairs. The model numbers for the recalled chairs_ TC83536WG, TC83531DO, TC83533PS and TC83532SB_ are located on the label on the chair's leg.

The chairs were sold for about $10 at discount department and toy stores nationwide from April 2004 through July 2004.

Consumers should stop using the chair immediately and can contact Delta, at 877-660-3777 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EDT Monday through Friday, to receive a free repair kit with new assembly instructions and four straps_ to prevent the fabric seat from coming off.
