OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ State revenue collections were up again in August, this time by 3.2% over a year ago.
The $11.7 million increase in total collections was mainly due to increases in income taxes. Sales taxes and motor vehicle taxes were down slightly.
State Finance Director Scott Meacham said motor vehicle tax collections fluctuate throughout the year, ``and we believe the sales tax collections' variation is seasonal as well.''
Meacham said sales tax collections for the year are 6.8% ahead of the pace in 2003.
Income taxes in August totaled $166.6 million, 10.1% above the prior year. The severance tax on natural gas was up 11.4%.
Sales taxes were down 5.2% and motor vehicle taxes were off 5.9%.
