OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ The Texas Rangers have agreed to extend their player development contract with Triple-A Oklahoma for two years through 2008, RedHawks managing general partner Scott Pruitt announced Friday.

The Rangers have been affiliated with Oklahoma City teams, first the 89ers and then the RedHawks, since 1983. The contract extension will keep the teams affiliated for the next four years _ the maximum length a minor-league club can be linked to a Major League Baseball team at any one time.

The Rangers have called more than 20 players, including outfielder Gary Matthews Jr. and pitchers John Wasdin, Doug Brocail and Ryan Drese, up to the major league this season.
