OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- State senators have been notified that the Senate trial of Insurance Commissioner Carroll Fisher will likely start October 4th.
No announcement was made, but The Associated Press obtained an e-mail sent to Senate offices saying the trial would begin the first week of October.
After the House voted Thursday to impeach Fisher on five charges, Senate officials said they would convene Tuesday to organize as a court and set a trial date.
In an e-mail sent Friday from the office of Senator Charlie Laster, senators were told the trial would begin October 4th and last for several days.
Fisher was out of state and unavailable for comment. His attorney Irven Box says he was not aware a trial date had been set.
Box says he plans to ask the Oklahoma Supreme Court to delay the Senate trial.
