SAPULPA, Okla. (AP) -- Thieves in Sapulpa put the new Creek County Jail to test.

The jail -- which hasn't opened yet -- was burglarized last weekend by thieves who entered the work site and stole some tools.

Jail Administrator Reese Lane says the crooks tried to steal more tools that were locked in one of the jail cells, but didn't succeed.

Lane says the criminals tried to smash the glass window of the cell with a sledgehammer, but were unsuccessful.

Officials hope the new jail will be open by November.
