OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ A program to recycle used computer printer cartridges has raised thousands of dollars for Oklahoma school students.

Lieutenant Governor Mary Fallin, educators and officials with the office supply store Staples Tuesday handed out $20,000 to school foundations across the state.

Officials from 20 school foundations including Lawton, Shawnee, Enid, Tulsa and Oklahoma City each received a $1,000 check.

The foundations use the money to pay for special programs developed by teachers.

Staples provides $1 for every empty cartridge that's recycled and has given out $50,000 to school foundations in the state since the program began in March 2003.
