TAHLEQUAH, Okla. (AP) -- A group of Cherokee Nation members serving in Iraq are planning to bring some American Indian culture to the Middle East.

Shawna Eubanks, Jon Ketcher and Don Childers are all Cherokee Nation marshals serving with the Army in Iraq.

The three soldiers are organizing what is believed to be the first powwow ever held in Iraq.

Cherokee Nation Deputy Chief Joe Grayson says his office is collecting traditional Cherokee items for the soldiers to use in the powwow.

Grayson says he's trying to find stickball sticks, cue balls to use as marbles and Cherokee ribbon shirts to send to the group in Iraq.
