OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- The New York Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children is honoring Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson.

The New York City group has praised Edmondson for speeding up the appeals process in death penalty cases.

The society officials say Edmonson's work has been influential at the state and federal level.

The society provides preventative and protective services to children and families.

Edmondson was one of eight people or groups receiving the Paul H. Chapman award this year.
