The number of Oklahomans on food stamps is at an all time high and Wednesday, Tulsa’s program got a much needed boost from the federal government.

The Oklahoma Department of Human Services along with the Community Action Project of Tulsa received an $800,000 grant.

The money from Department of Agriculture was presented Wednesday morning. Howard Hendrick with DHS: "During the month of June we had a little over 14,000 Oklahomans on food stamps. That is an all time high. We have never had this many people on food stamps in the history of the state."
