Tuesday’s bank robbery in Tulsa is now a murder investigation.
Two masked, hooded men went inside the First Fidelity Bank near 21st and Columbia Tuesday morning and ordered a teller to hand over money at gunpoint.
They shot the bank president, a customer and killed the teller, Amber Rogers.
Another employee escaped before the shooting and called 911, as employees in a nearby business took cover. Curtis Kretchmar with Patterson Realtors: "We all went into the back room and locked the doors. Then a guy from the bank came in and called 911." Despite a search with a police helicopter and dogs, the robbers got away, but detectives are following up several leads.
The FBI says the gunmen started shooting after apparently getting frustrated at the amount of money they were getting.
Friends of murdered teller Amber Rogers say that makes her violent death even more difficult to comprehend. Amber Rogers is being remembered for her kindness and as someone always quick with a smile. Her friends and customers are shocked and saddened about what happened.
Investigators are looking into whether Amber’s killers are the same men responsible for another armed robbery at the bank a few weeks ago.
The FBI is offering a $16,000 reward for information leading to their capture. If you have information about this case, you can call Crimestoppers at 596-COPS.
