Folks in Owasso are working to get support for a one of a kind playground project. It's expected to be the biggest play area of its kind in Oklahoma.
It will almost entirely be built by a massive volunteer effort. The three acre site just off 116th Street is just a field now. But plans are in the works for a playground stretching over an area the size of a football field.
The playground will have everything from monkey bars, to slides. And it will be able to accommodate disabled children. Owasso resident Robert Pittenger: "I think it's going to be a pretty good asset. Especially for the kids over in the neighborhood here. And for the whole community period."
Part of the money will come from Owasso's share of the Vision 2025 money. The rest will be raised through tax deductible donations.
The playground is expected to be built next spring.
