(Oklahoma City-AP) -- Statistics from the FBI show violent crime in Oklahoma City last year was up 10%.

According to the agency's numbers, there were 4,642 victims of murders, robberies, aggravated assaults and rapes in the state capital last year.

Murders, robberies and aggravated assaults were all up more than 10%. The number of rapes reported was down from 2002.

Oklahoma City Police Chief Bill City says any number is too high, especially an increase. He says police are trying to address the increase in robberies and gang-related violence in the city.

The FBI reported Tulsa had fewer violent crime victims, but 35 more homicides in 2003 than the previous year.

Nationwide, violent crime was down 3.2%, with the murder rate increasing 1.8%.
