LOS ANGELES, Calif. (AP) _ Actor Kiefer Sutherland has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly eight years, citing irreconcilable differences.

Sutherland and his wife, Elizabeth Kelly Winn Sutherland, have been separated since 1999 and have no children together, according to papers filed Monday in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Sutherland, 37, stars in the Fox drama ``24'' and has appeared in numerous films, including this year's ``Taking Lives,'' as well as ``Young Guns'' in 1988, ``Flatliners'' in 1990 and ``Stand by Me'' in 1986.

Sutherland has a daughter from a previous marriage to actress Camelia Kath.
