(Fort Sill-AP) -- The 95th Division at Fort Sill has a new commander.

Brigadier General James Archer took command of the more than 4,000 troops Sunday as Major General Robert Silverthorn Junior relinquished leadership over the Army Reserve division.

Archer had been the assistant commander for the division since May 2001. The 95th has units in Oklahoma and eight other states and provides training to soldiers for a variety of jobs.

Silverthorn was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal at the change-of-command ceremony. He's a veteran of 34 years in the service.

He had been with the 95th since April 2000.

Silverthorn says he's working on some projects, but says his future right now consists of whatever the Army has in mind for him.
