Last-minute filers at Tulsa's downtown post office got a little politics while they're paying their taxes Thursday.
The Tulsa Peace Fellowship protested the war in Iraq near the downtown Post Office Thursday.
News on 6 reporter Ashli Sims explains why the group chose tax day to picket. April 15th is usually marked by hundreds of people making a mad dash to the post office to file their taxes before time runs out. Peace protesters were there too, they say to remind people where some of their money is going.
Protesters claim a good chunk of your tax dollars are going to pay for the war in Iraq. Several signs criticized the war effort for driving up the national debt and creating bills future generations will have to pay.
Many of the protesters have come out against the war before, but they said Thursday was especially important. Nancy Moran, Tulsa Peace Fellowship: "education, human services health care programs are being cut so we can borrow more and more money to pay for the war in Iraq."
