(Altus-AP) -- Jackson County authorities are now saying they don't believe a 14-year-old boy shot himself to death.
Three other teens who were with Coltin Locke when he was shot Monday afternoon initially told deputies that Locke shot himself with a black powder rifle.
But Sheriff Morris Roberts says an autopsy doesn't match what the teens said. Roberts says after further interviews with the three 13- and 14-year-old boys it doesn't appear the shooting was self-inflicted.
The sheriff says he believes the shooting was accidental and the result of horseplay. He says he believes fear caused the boys to say Locke shot himself.
Roberts says he'll turn over results of the investigation to the district attorney, who will determine whether to file charges.
