A 9-year-old Tulsa boy is home thanks to Tulsa Police. About 6 AM Thursday, local trash collectors spotted the boy wandering alone near 8th and Utica and called police.

When officers arrived the boy ran into heavy traffic. Officers blocked traffic and were able to get to the boy who appeared to have special needs. Officers went door-to-door in the neighborhood looking for information about the boy. They found a teacher from Kendall Wittier School who was able to help them find out where he lived.

Police returned the boy to his parents, who didn't know he had wandered away. The parents tell the News on 6, the boy is autistic, wanders in the night and is sometimes difficult to care for.
