Fire early Tuesday morning leaves a Sand Springs family homeless and serves as a reminder how quickly accidents happen.
Sand Springs firefighters were called to a home near West 6th Street and Garfield Avenue around three o'clock Tuesday morning. When they arrived, the home was engulfed in flames.
Two adults and two children managed to get out okay. One parent suffered minor burns. A family pet did not make it out. The fire caused about $40,000 in damage.
The Red Cross is helping the family. Fire crews believe the fire was started by a box of clothes placed on a floor furnace.
