It's been a tremendous struggle for Git N Go over the past couple of months.
First their parent company, Hale Halsell, had massive layoffs. Then Git N Go itself filed for bankruptcy. And on Friday, the company tried to fire president Ron Ford. Through it all workers are trying to stay positive.
News on 6 business reporter Steve Berg talked to a management level employee who says Git N Go is still going.
This Git N Go manager wants to stay anonymous because he's nervous about Friday's effort to oust Git N Go President Ron Ford. He claims many employees are behind Ford. And he says the restructuring officer hired by the bankruptcy court to oversee Git N Go rejected the company's request to fire Ford and has kept him on staff. "Ron Ford is still doing what he did before. He is the person, working through the banks and working through the courts, is pretty much running Git N Go."
He says he lost four employees over the weekend because they were nervous about the news of Ford's possible firing. And while Git N Go struggles to keep employees in its stores, the employees have struggled to keep products on the shelves.
Some vendors stopped supplying Git N Go just after the bankruptcy, but this manager says they're less leery now that the bankruptcy judge has allowed Git N Go to keep operating. "All the vendors are pretty much turned back on to where we're receiving product. Probably by the end of this week, consumers are going to see a huge difference in the shelf-stock as we call it."
He says he's still unhappy with parent company Hale Halsell and says in some cases, they had good locations for Git N Go's, but didn't put money back into the stores like they should have. "They just need maintenance, they need repairs, image hasn't been upheld.†He thinks eventually, it would be better if Git N Go was sold to a different operator. But for now, he wants people to know that Git N Go isn't going away.
We tried to reach Git N Go officials to get their comments, but there was no answer at their corporate office.
