MIAMI - Delaware County Sheriff Lenden Woodruff was held for a six-hour sobering-up period in the Miami County Jail and released Sunday after he was brought in on a driving under the influence charge.
An Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper stopped Woodruff on Oklahoma Higway 59 in Delaware County at 10:53 p.m. Saturday, according to Ottawa County Jail records.
Woodruff was first taken to the Mayes County Jail, which was over capacity, then brought to the Ottawa County Jail, where he refused a breath-alcohol test.
Ottawa County Sheriff Dennis King ordered Woodruff held for a six-hour sobering-up period as required by state law. Woodruff was released Sunday morning.
Woodruff was charged with driving under the influence, traveling with an open container of beer and resisting arrest.
