MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) _ A Muskogee County jury has recommended life in prison for a woman it convicted of killing her boyfriend last year.
The panel deliberated for two hours Friday before finding Tameka Taylor guilty of first-degree murder in the Jan. 20, 2003, fatal shooting of Joshuaw Wilson.
Muskogee County Associate District Judge Tom Alford will formally sentence Taylor, 23, on March 25.
Taylor denied killing Wilson, testifying that she only confessed to the slaying to police last year because she was tired of questions, prosecutor David Pierce said.
She blamed the shooting on her cousin, Robert Simpson, who is now deceased.
Some witnesses who were in Wilson's car just before the shooting testified that he worried about Taylor being armed and killing him, the prosecutor said.
Wilson was shot seven times, according to reports. Taylor fled from the shooting scene and was arrested two days later.
