Tahlequah - Voters will decide this week whether to approve the first part of an eleven (m) million-dollar capital-improvement package for Tahlequah Public Schools.
A temporary half-cent city sales tax would pay for lease revenue bonds for the school district. The tax would last no longer than five years.
The issue goes before voters Tuesday.
The money would be used for a new baseball and softball diamond, plus expanded classroom space and a bigger cafeteria at the high school.
The expansion could also help provide extra administrative and counseling space.
If possible, school officials also hope to build a new gymnasium.
The rest of the financing package would be funded through a proposed six-point-two (m) million-dollar bond issue. That goes before voters April sixth.
