The Tulsa School Board is adding 79 teaching positions and up to 50 of them could be filled this year.
Good economic news from the state has Tulsa Public Schools restoring teaching positions. Tax collections are up 16% over this time last year and the Tulsa School board is funneling the money right back into the classroom.
Cindy Anderson with Sandburg Elementary: “If we could add a couple of teachers and eliminate some of our split sections and lower class sizes it would mean a lot more individual instruction for our children."
Tulsa Superintendent Dr David Sawyer says the first 50 teachers will go where they're most needed.
