(Lake Forest, Illinois-AP) -- Oklahoma State assistant coach Karl Dunbar is headed back to the NFL.
The Chicago Bears hired Dunbar Tuesday as their defensive line coach.
Dunbar was the defensive line coach last season at Oklahoma State, where the Cowboys increased their sacks from 28 to 32.
He spent the previous three years as the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Louisiana State, where he was an all-SEC lineman in 1989.
Drafted in the eighth round of the 1990 draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dunbar played for the New Orleans Saints and the Arizona Cardinals. He also spent two seasons in the World League, now NFL Europe.
The only position let open on new Bears coach Lovie Smith's staff is tight ends coach.
