LAWTON, Okla. (AP) _ The Lawton Indian Hospital will get help from the federal government with a $6 million expansion and renovation project.

Steve Barse, public affairs liaison for the Department of Health and Human Services Indian Health Service, said $4.5 million of the funds are to be made available through IHS. The hospital will contribute $1.5 million.

The expansion of the hospital will include pediatric, general medicine, internal medicine and outpatient surgery clinics, officials said.

If funding is available, a second phase may include a pharmacy, OB/GYN clinic, medical records, business office, contract health services and a laboratory.

The project is scheduled for completion in winter or early spring 2006.
