Help is on the way to US troops serving overseas, thanks to some Tulsa students.

Leadership Council students from the Tulsa School for Science and Technology collected toiletries, snacks, reading materials and other items for our military men and women.

The Oklahoma Blue Star Mothers will ship the items overseas. Blue Star President Barbara Porter says it's nice to see young people willing to lend a hand. "Usually all you hear about is the bad kids out on the streets, the bad kids that are in trouble and this proves that there are a lot of real good kids out there that have a heart, that know how important supporting our military is."

Barbara says donations dropped after the holidays, but with 1,500 Oklahoma troops shipping out in the next few weeks, the need is as great as ever.

If you'd like to help, you can call the Blue Star Mothers at 358-5013.
