(Norman-AP) -- The University of Oklahoma has more freshmen per capita who are National Merit Scholars than any other public university in the nation.
That's according to a speech President David Boren gave to regents Tuesday.
OU ranks 9th among the top 10 private and public universities with the most National Merit Scholars in the nation.
The list includes Ivy League schools such as Harvard, Yale and Princeton.
Officials are in the process of gathering statistics to show the racial and ethnic makeup of National Merit scholars in the freshman class.
