Murder charges are filed against a Tulsa couple in the death of their 8 month old son.
The News on Six was the only TV station there when 23-year-old Jerry Marten and 19-year-old Jeannie Henderson were jailed after surrendering to the Northern Oklahoma Fugitive Task Force.
In December, authorities thought their son, Christian Marten burned to death in an accident when he crawled onto a floor furnace. Detectives now tell us the couple had been using drugs for days, and were not watching the baby.
After the death, the parents moved away. But a member of the task force was able to contact the father by phone. Sgt Chris Witt with the Fugitive Task Force: "We talked a little bit about turning themselves in, we didn't have any other leads they had recently moved, had no house, no car, no jobs, we didn't have much to follow up on."
Both Martin and Henderson face charges of second degree murder, child neglect, possession of a controlled substance in the presence of a minor child, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
