Devol - A slain Oklahoma state trooper reportedly may have confronted his killer after checking a report of someone lying across the front seats of a car.

The Lawton Constitution reports the car was stopped alongside a road near here Devol, Oklahoma, about 20 miles north of Wichita Falls, Texas.

The newspaper reports a passing motorist noticed the individual and items strewn about the vehicle. So she stopped at Trooper Nikky Green's nearby house and told him what she saw. The trooper went to check the report. A Cotton County sheriff's deputy sent to look for Green found him dead near his Oklahoma Highway Patrol car, about 30 minutes after his last contact Friday.
