WASHINGTON (AP) _ U.S. counterterrorism officials are reminding travelers during the holiday season of the threat of terrorist attacks.

Officials say they continue to receive a high volume of intelligence suggesting al-Qaida's interest in striking U.S. interests at home or abroad, but the information is generally not specific to target, timing or method of attack.

Homeland Security officials said this week they do not expect the national threat warning to be raised from yellow _ the midpoint on its five-color scale _ to orange, unless more specific intelligence is received.

``We just say that we have remained concerned about the volume of reporting of threats,'' White House spokesman Scott McClellan said Friday. ``And that is why the Department of Homeland Security has sent out several bulletins over the past few weeks to homeland security officials and law enforcement personnel, urging all to continue to be on a heightened state of alert, especially as we enter the busy holiday season.''
