(Muskogee-AP) -- State Senator Ben Robinson of Muskogee is recovering after surgery at an Oklahoma City hospital.

He's listed in fair condition at the University of Oklahoma Medical Center.

Robinson says he went to the hospital with what he thought was a relapse of influenza. He says doctors found scar tissue, perhaps from a past gall bladder operation, had wrapped around a bowel and blocked it.

Robinson is a Democrat who was first elected to the state Senate in 1988.
