Federal officials say they have a plan to begin the blueprint for the Tar Creek Superfund site cleanup.
Under the new agreement, two of the mining companies that once produced lead and zinc in the Ottawa County site, will study the area and develop the plan. Blue Tee and Gold Fields mining companies will be reimbursed for their work by the U-S Department of Interior.
The EPA will oversee an additional study on the immediate risks to residents of Picher and Cardin.
