The city of Sapulpa is considering annexing a west Tulsa county shopping center, and the businesses that surround it.

The area is along I-44 west of Tulsa, in what is now an unincorporated part of Tulsa County. It’s mainly motels, trucking related businesses, and the Town West Shopping Center. If it was annexed by Sapulpa, the sales tax on every purchase would go up by 4%.

Some in the area don't want to be part of Sapulpa. Floyd Dick with Midway Radiator: “the only thing Sapulpa can offer us is four more cents per dollar.”

Sapulpa is studying whether it's worth it to annex Town West. A study of the idea won't be done until February.

Opponents are organizing to try to stop the plan.
