A Tulsa County man has been arrested in an extortion attempt. Sheriff's detectives picked up 45-year-old Ward Victor Smith.

He was taken into custody while picking up a package left near a business at 5500 Southwest Boulevard. An Oklahoma City man says he's been the victim of an extortion scheme over the Internet the past few weeks.

Authorities say Smith contacted the victim and demanded money and a laptop computer. Investigators believe there may be other victims.
